INSIDE THE STUDIO
Reading the short descriptions of some of the people at the station
you may think it's just a lot of BS, no place can have that many
wonderful people working there.
Right? Wrong!

The truth is there are some outstandingly talented, truly nice
people working at the station. Everyone we deal with treats us like
gold. You can't say bad things about nice people.
Betty Ellen is the Grand High Pubba of the station. She has always
supported the helicopter and her crew.
Karen is the News Director of the station.  She is the kind of person and
boss that will always say "Thanks" or "Good Job."  Karen is unique in
many ways, all of them good.  If you work for her long enough she
becomes much more than a boss. Karen has never come for a ride in
Air11, though has said she would on many occasions.
The Assistant Director.  Anthony is great to work with.  He is nuts and
makes us laugh 99% of the time.  He will tell us when we are coming on
and when he needs a "bump" (pretty pictures when we go to
commercial).  He also lets us know when we are "clear" (done with a
shot).  He also tells us exactly what the Director is looking for at a
breaking news story to keep us all on the same page. A true gentleman
and just a real nice guy.
The person in Receive that "catches" the signal from a helicopter
moving at 100mph. Yes, it is computer driven, but computers do fail
and when they do... Well, the show must go on, and Rob has to dial us
in by hand, can you tell the difference? I bet not.
Joe is the Meteorologist behind the scenes. Linda Church is a full
Meteorologist, but graphics, maps and animations also need to be
generated for the show. Joe does all this plus keeps an eye out for bad
weather that may effect our safety. Every pilot should have a personal
Meteorologist.
Joe rides a Harley.
Joe Punday
Lori Tamburo
Karen Scott
Mike Gano
Rob Weisenfeld
Anthony
DiGiacomo
Betty Ellen
Berlamino
Director of Engineering at WPIX. Very knowledgeable about all TV
related technology and a great deal more. Mike is also a stuck wing
(airplane) pilot so he understands a little more about the aviation
aspect of ENG (Electronic News Gathering) in a helicopter.
Cliff Herman
Cliff is the Morning Shows Engineer In Charge. He is a hard worker and
a true friend to Air 11 and her crew. (Yes, I said Her, all ships are
referred in the feminine gender. A helicopter is a ship that flys.) When
thinks break, Cliff packs up his tools and treks to NJ from Manhattan to
fix the problems. He keeps the magic blue smoke in the wires for us.
Lori's job description is a little difficult to describe!  She works with the
Director of Broadcast Operations & Engineering (Mike Gano) and is one
of those people who gets things done....in all area's.....except flying the
Helicopter!  That's something we WON'T let her do.....not yet
anyway......but give her time!!
Julian Turock
Julian is our Video Guru in the studio. He makes sure Lisa doesn't look
like a blue Smuffet or a tomato. Its nice to have someone that knows
video this well to  set us straight.
Adam Welikson
Jean Hessel
Wayne Westerfield
Jamie Boyd
Joe Rumore
Tom Wisnoski
Dave Kalmowitz
Adam works the News Desk over night and the Happy Mailman you see
delivering the mail on the show. A good guy and he does a good job.
These two gentleman are the directors of the show and do a fantastic
job. They tell people to mash buttons, make noises and are the
technical switchy gods of the show. Plus they are both nice guys.
Note: There is no real order to this list.
These are our sound guys, all the chicken, puppy and fart noises are
generated by these two. They also play all the music and make sure
the microphones and audio stuff work correctly. If your a fan of the
show you will notice these guys aren't wrapped to tightly.
These are people that come up with all the graphics. If you have seen
the sometimes bazaar graphics on the show then you have some
insight into our graphic artists.
